This page describes how Homebuilding Review is written and sourced. It is a statement of standards, not a claim to a large newsroom: the publication is small and independent, and these rules are how it keeps its guidance trustworthy.
Evidence and sourcing
We cite public sources we have actually consulted, and we link to them so you can check our reading. Where a topic has an authoritative independent body — the National Association of Home Builders for consumer contracting guidance, the Cool Roof Rating Council for roofing systems — we prefer it. When a source we intended to use is unavailable, we do not paper over the gap; we narrow the claim and say the source was unreachable.
Labeling manufacturer material
Manufacturers publish genuinely useful information, but they are not neutral. When we draw on a manufacturer's guidance, we identify it as such in the text and in the sources, so you can weigh it accordingly. We do not present a company that sells a product as an independent authority on whether you need it.
What we will not claim
We do not invent authors, credentials, services, projects or clients. We do not publish precise prices, timelines or warranty terms as if they were universal, because they are not — they depend on your project and your region. We do not diagnose a specific house from afar, give structural, roofing or electrical how-to instructions, or suggest anyone climb onto a roof. And we do not imply that a business's age guarantees its future solvency, or that any firm is affiliated with the former William Morgan Architects practice.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, it should be fixed. Our approach is to correct errors of fact when we become aware of them and to be transparent about substantive changes rather than quietly overwriting them. We are not claiming a staffed corrections desk; we are stating the standard we hold, appropriate to an independent publication of this size.
Independence, sponsorship and affiliates
Homebuilding Review currently carries no advertising, sponsorship or affiliate relationships, and takes no referral fees. External links are provided for verification, not for commercial reasons, and are marked so they do not pass ranking signals. If that ever changes, this policy will change with it, in the open.
